MY ENGLISH PROGRESS FROM 2008 - 2010

As long as we’ve been in high school we’ve worked in different ways of learning. Today we are in the final weeks of all our english high school studies and it represents we are so stressed and excited because of the final exams. But all isn’t negative, still we are working with blog and portfolio sources we can see our improvement in the two years of batxillerat. (What an improvement!)

Firstly I want to compare my first doccument of all my english studies: my first e-mail sended to my first of batxillerat teacher, Gemma. You can see this composition in this web link:

On my point of view in this first e-mail I can see different ways of improvement I’ve followed to the final one I’ve done, like the long of compositions or the more presence of past and passive sentences. In other way, I think my vocabulary and obviusly maturity have improved a lot. You can see what I say between the past link and this one:

There is an enormous change, isn’t there? Step to step I’ve improved all ways I use to learn this special language which is spoken and learnt around all the world. So I only think that these two years of Batxillerat have been the better way we’ve could use to improve our english skills.

We’ve talked about writting, but what abou oral english skills? Unfortunately I think I’ve only improved only on the way of imagination while I was speaking, fluency. Nevertheless I’ve to say my last oral presentations haven’t been better than the first.

The main reason has been the lot of work and probably the less work to learn in by memory how other persons have done. But I’m happy with all work we’ve done, I don’t speak individually.

To conclude, myself and other my classmates have done a lot of work these years to improve which is the main language in world and the way how to comunicate with other countries or persons and cultures.

Influence of psychologists

When we think about the word psychologist immediately we think about a person who could help us. Someone whom through speaking, can determine what is our psychological problem.

Obviously we know that we have a problem in our lives the first thing we are thinking about is to go to someone on this "mind doctors". For this reason we can say psychologists influence our society with their knowledge about mind and their experience.

Nevertheless, what could happens when someone of this kind of people use their own opinions without psychological knowledge? We leave to fall ourselves in hands of a man that can use us like dolls, like he wants.

To conclude, we can say psychology is a risk we have to depend on if we are in serious problems, but in general and it is my opinion, we should no leave ourselves in hand of only one person.

Pride & Prejudice's forum

Forum 1:

To Katy's surprise a boy is commenting in this forum. First of all I believe what Katy's said about Romanticism is completely right. In our days it seems that the only way a person can be romantic is saying nice adjectives to his partner and enjoying sweet and tenderness with someone. In other centuries a romantic person was someone who wishes the suicide!

In other way, I think this kind of book can like to boys or girls indeferently, it depends, how Marta has said, with the kind of person they are. Certainly, girls are more followers of love stories but the reason could be that there are different ways to see love.

Probably in girls it seems in a story like Pride and Prejudice, like "Crepusculo", but specially for me there isn't a way better than the sight with a person or, if you prefer write it, a poem where we can reflect all our feelings. I'm not a girl and I like love stories, but they could be boring at the end because Love has been the main theme of writings of lot of important writers in centuries past.

Forum 2:

Firstly I have to say that Katy has a real point of view about life. Like her, I think marriages have been the solution to lot of families to could live.

Moreover I believe different as Júlia, money issue has been and will be the reason why, like Cèlia says, we could find attractive girls with older rich men, like our days, like now. In other way, these "money-marriages" have been reduced in pass of time because of the improvement of the social circumstances and quality of life.

Today more people would marriage with someone he really loves. So, I can say it has been and improvement of our society, the society of lovers in the name of love.

1. Cèlia's question:

Family's honour has been important in all centuries, because of the reputation of a good family. Broke the honour there was the worst thing a familiar can do to his family, it could represents his apart of society or bad manners and bad words when someone was referring to this family. Nevertheless, I think in our days it has been reduced a lot because when we are doing something we don't think about our family's honour. I think words that depreciate family aren't not the same than

honour's.

2. Pau's question:

Lol! It's true that in our class the main theme of discussion during the film was who's the most beautiful girl. But to answer this question we must know what be beautiful means at the film century. There were a lot of centuries that a beautiful girl means someone blonde with white skin that was a meaning of luxury. In other way in our times, I prefer Miss Elizabeth Bennet because his beautiful and attractive face, it isn't only a body's perspective. The intelligence Lizzy has could be some attractive to some boys and is a way to be more interested in a girl with mystery in his eyes and mouth, like her. What do you think guys?

Dear Barack Obama,

The main reason I'm writing this letter at this moment is because the climate change is destroying our planet. I know you have to receive a lot of letters of citizens and sure they are more interesting than this theme for you, but my reasons are sincere.

At the beginning I want to ask you a few questions that probably will provoke a reflection on you. Which Home planet would like your children to inherit? I think anybody wants to create a world where rainforests, exhaust fumes and acid rain are the quotidian vision of world, all affecting endangered species, humans habitats or definitely our planet. It is something annoying because the reality of our days is like this. Can governments change this situation? I think that if you take a plane and fly across important naturals reserves you will find a part of them destroyed, with endangered species are living in and will die.

Climate is the rule of the world, like Take That's song explain, a rule which has been creating Nature, our mother. Do you think it's strange that only animal species in world is destroying all in his pass is the human? You will think, and I wish it, that we are thinking the same. Humans are the error of Nature, the only species who can destroy his planet and only who can save it.

To conclude this letter I have to say that it is an important honour you are reading this paper because you, politicians, are the only ones who can create a solution taking a verdict in relation with other countries in world. Because it does not matter if we are English, French, Chinese of Japanese, we are human and the world where we are living is the same.

Human Rights

1. What are human rights?

Human rights are the rights you can have because you're human. All humans of any kind of society or religion have these rights.

2. When did human rights start?

These rights started 10th December of 1948. But at the same time they didn't exist there were a kind of human right in the interior of any person, a feeling like compassion that does we better humans.

3. Why were they created?
To less clear the dignity of a person and the valor a person could has amongst others.

4. How many human rights are there?
There are 30 articles.

5. Which human right were you not familiar with?
All of them because we find them in our lives.

6. Choose one human right and discuss:
Article 3: Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.

"Live and less live" (The Jungle Book) I can begin this discussion with Balu's quote in The Jungle Book film of Disney because it's one of the things I've learn in my childhood and now I can use it to describe this article of Human Rights.

Everybody can has the right to life because nature have give him this present. It's a thing anybody can't takes from you if not it's killing you. But we have to discuss the important theme of this article. A person it's free to has the life he want with security of any government and to has a life how she want.

There are radical persons thinking that if a person hasn't got his ideologists is not a person and for this reason, a barber. For this reason, too, we have this article in Human Rights.

7. Are Humans rights relevant in the world today? why?

Yes, they are relevant to improve the treatment with persons and to defend persons in danger, they have supposed a past and an after in time. In other way, there are many corruption governments that are not defenders of Human Rights and don't respect them.

"It's time for electronic books. Paper books are history." Do you agree?

We can see ourselves watching a computer, in our days is the most common thing, we use it every day. We can be sure that past societies had never thought about the invention which has transformed our era in the PC era. Every day more scientists in the world are investigating to create new electronic things, one of these inventions is the E-Book or also called electronic books.

Firstly, teachers of medicine are always saying that we are damaging our sight using computers. Young people are wearing glasses more and more, why? Because of the new electronic teaching system that fosters the government. I think the education is going worse. I completely disagree with the new programme of the country, because ten-year-old students are beginning to use computers to learn. Books are programmed in PCs. Their sight would we damaged and they won't learn in paper, they won't read novels. Which kind of education is the one that promotes students not to use a pencil and a paper?

Secondly, I only can agree this situation, thinking that it's something that we can stop, something that we have to see and we will have to live. I think we rescue trees using this method. But humans have tendency to destroy everything in his way, if we do not destroy trees to create paper we will destroy to do another thing.

To sum up, I will protest to this new education. Young people have to read more than now and in a computer, we lose the feeling of reading. Definitely I think politicians have to improve this system and create steps to success in an electronic world with paper that can be their friend.

Another time, hard work is waiting for us

My father is a farmer, I spent a lot of time in summer helping him because he works alone, we have cows. I have a sister, her name’s Marta who is twenty-five years old and this year she has passed the competitive examination for employment to become a teacher of economics, this year she is working in cendrassos high school.

I can’t explain better how I see myself than with a Jim Morrison (singer of The Doors, an important music group of ‘70s) phrase: “I see myself as an intelligent, sensitive human, with the soul of a clown which forces me to blow it at the most important moments.”

I’m a normal student who has headache only of see the year that is waiting me, including the research project. I’m studying 2nd of batxillerat to become someone in this life, to try that my name remains written in a piece of paper that surely will live more than me. I pretend to go to the university next year, but I am not sure about what I will study.

At the moment I have to try to pass this year with the better marks I could. After this important year (with selectivitat monster in the final way) there are a lot of questions opened to a new life, Will I life in a city? In Barcelona, in Girona, in Lleida, in Vic... Where will I go? Will I meet new people? Will I life in a residence or in a student flat? I only know that after this hard year is waiting us a magic summer.
